Helen Levitt was one of the greatest documentary photographers

Helen Levitt  was one of the greatest documentary photographers. She remained active for so many years and collaborated with the greatests like Walker Evans. She's best known for her street culture photos taken in New York. I really admire her work. You can find a part of her work in 'Slide Show: The Color Photographs of Helen Levitt', which was published in 2005.

Helen Levitt's film

I love her work.  I'm so sorry there won't be any more of it.  I once saw a film that she made,  cinema verite of kids playing in Brooklyn slum, to a soundtrack by Max Roach.   Wonderful.  Does anyone know where to get a DVD of it?

More information about Helen Levitt

Helen Levitt was really an awesome character .   Her photos mostly show poor kids , people without hope, but she always leaves them their pride in her pictures....

There are no dramatic perspectives and no dramatisation ... i think this makes her photos timeless.

I know that there was a documentary on her wich is called " In the street" , and her first book " A way of seeing"

If anyone knows more good information  let us know.
